India’s Abhishek Sharma has reclaimed the top spot in the ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings, while South Africa’s Marco Jansen has become the No. 1-ranked Test bowler and all-rounder following the latest rankings update released on Wednesday.

Jansen achieved the top position in both Test categories for the first time in his career after delivering an outstanding performance in South Africa’s victory over Australia in the second Test at Gqeberha. The left-arm fast bowler scored 85 runs and claimed a match-turning five-wicket haul in Australia’s first innings.

The 26-year-old climbed 13 places to 56th in the Test batting rankings. He also rose five places to overtake Australia’s Mitchell Starc at the top of the Test bowling rankings and moved up one position to displace India’s Ravindra Jadeja as the leading Test all-rounder.

Jadeja had held the No. 1 position among Test all-rounders for more than four years. Jansen’s rise follows recent praise from former South African fast bowler Dale Steyn, who described him as “the best cricketer in the world”.

Abhishek, meanwhile, returned to the summit of the T20I batting rankings after smashing a remarkable century against New Zealand in Wellington during the third match of the series on Tuesday.

The left-handed batter reached his hundred in just 35 balls and finished with 113 off 38 deliveries, helping India secure a six-wicket victory and clinch the series. His explosive innings propelled him past teammate Ishan Kishan, who had occupied the top position.

Kishan had overtaken Abhishek in July this year following a series of impressive performances in Ireland. Abhishek first reached the No. 1 spot in the T20I batting rankings in July 2025, displacing Australia’s Travis Head.

South Africa captain Temba Bavuma was another major beneficiary of the latest update, climbing four places to second in the Test batting rankings after being named Player of the Match against Australia in the second Test.

Bavuma scored 179 in the first innings as South Africa levelled the three-match series 1-1. England captain Harry Brook remains the only batter ahead of him in the rankings.

Australia fast bowler Scott Boland moved up three places to sixth in the Test bowling rankings, while South African spinner Simon Harmer climbed 15 places to eighth in the Test all-rounder rankings, now headed by Jansen.

India’s Sanju Samson gained six places to reach 20th in the T20I batting rankings, while New Zealand’s Finn Allen rose three places to 25th. New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner climbed seven positions to seventh in the T20I bowling rankings, and India’s Arshdeep Singh advanced six places to 15th.

The latest update also brought changes to the ODI rankings as the tri-series featuring hosts Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka continued. England batters Ben Duckett and Harry Brook improved their positions in the ODI batting rankings.

Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Afridi moved up two places to sixth in the ODI bowling rankings. Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai made a significant gain of 13 places to seventh, while Namibia spinner Bernard Scholtz climbed nine places to eighth.

Afghanistan veteran Mohammad Nabi also advanced five places to third in the ODI all-rounder rankings.
