Actor Jay Bhanushali has publicly reaffirmed his support for his estranged wife, actress Mahhi Vij, and their daughter Tara after Mahhi revealed that she chose not to accept alimony during their divorce proceedings.
Responding to a post shared on Mahhi’s social media account by her team, Jay said their separation would not affect the love and respect he continues to have for Mahhi and their daughter. He also assured her that he would remain available whenever they needed him.
“Be strong, Mahhi. We both know we’ll always be there for each other in hard times. Money was never between us and never will be,” he wrote.
“You and Tara will always be my responsibility for life. A marriage status can never change the love and respect I have for you both. I’m always here,” he added.
Jay’s message came after Mahhi became emotional on the reality show Bigg Boss 20 while discussing her experience as a single mother and her decision to build a secure future for Tara independently.
Mahhi explained that she had not accepted alimony or maintenance from Jay because she wanted to manage her finances herself. She also revealed that the judge had asked her four times during the court proceedings to reconsider her decision, but she remained firm.
“I do everything on my own so that my child’s life is secure,” Mahhi said, explaining that her life largely revolves around raising Tara.
She further clarified that her decision was not driven by any unwillingness on Jay’s part to provide financial support. According to Mahhi, she knows he is willing to help her and that she continues to have access to his resources, but she wants to establish financial security for herself and their daughter independently.
Jay’s response has underscored his stated commitment to supporting Mahhi and Tara despite the end of their marriage.
