New Delhi, October 10, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Delhi remained on high alert on Saturday ahead of the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) proposed protest at Jantar Mantar, with police intensifying security across the national capital, checking vehicles at border crossings, deploying paramilitary forces and using drones to monitor sensitive locations.

Several Metro stations, including Supreme Court and Mandi House, were closed as part of the security measures. Additional security was also deployed outside the residences of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Anant Mittal visited the Aya Nagar border to review arrangements ahead of the demonstration. Police personnel were checking vehicles entering Delhi to prevent unauthorised persons from reaching New Delhi.

Mittal said special security arrangements had been made at inter-state and inter-district borders, with the objective of preventing unauthorised entry and maintaining peace and law and order.

Police personnel were also equipped with body cameras to record any incidents of manhandling or physical altercations during the protest.

At New Delhi Railway Station, Delhi Police and Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel were deployed, security marches were conducted and drones were used for surveillance. Barricades were installed at several locations, including the Ghazipur and Badarpur borders, where vehicles were being checked. Heavy police deployment was reported at Janpath Gol Chakkar, while roads leading to Janpath Metro Station and Feroz Shah Road towards Mandi House were also barricaded.

Security was tightened along the Delhi-Ghaziabad border, including at Loni Gol Chakkar, where vehicles were inspected and Delhi Police and Border Security Force personnel deployed. CCTV cameras were being used for continuous monitoring.

Meanwhile, passenger movement continued at Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, with some travellers reporting no disruption to their journeys.

Authorities also imposed prohibitory orders in Gautam Buddh Nagar under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), effective from Saturday until October 20. The restrictions prohibit gatherings of five or more people without prior permission, processions, provocative speeches and the spread of misleading information.

Section 163 was also imposed in Delhi as security was stepped up ahead of the demonstration demanding Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation.

Internet services were suspended within a four-kilometre radius of the Janpath-Kartavya Path crossing for 24 hours from 10 p.m. on Friday. Delhi Police identified an approximately 1.5-kilometre radius covering Jantar Mantar, Janpath, the Election Commission office and police headquarters as a highly sensitive zone.
