Punjab FC have strengthened their midfield ahead of the 2026-27 Indian Super League (ISL) season with the signing of French midfielder Mickaël Ramon Vincent Malsa, who has made more than 60 appearances in La Liga.
The 30-year-old has signed a contract with the club, nicknamed the Shers, until May 31, 2027. He joins Punjab FC after a career spanning France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Greece, Spain and Morocco.
Malsa spent four seasons with Spanish club Levante UD, where he featured prominently in La Liga and gained experience in top-flight Spanish football. His Spanish career also includes spells with Albacete, Real Valladolid and CD Mirandés, which he rejoined earlier this year.
A defensive-minded central midfielder, Malsa is expected to bring experience and stability to Punjab FC’s midfield as the club prepares for the upcoming ISL campaign.
“I am really happy to be joining Punjab FC and to be part of this club’s journey. I have heard great things about the passion of the fans and the ambition within the squad, and I cannot wait to get started. I aim to bring my experience to the midfield, work hard for the team, and help us achieve big things together this season,” Malsa said after completing the move.
Malsa began his football development at FC Sochaux-Montbéliard before making his senior debut in French football. He subsequently represented US Avranches before moving abroad to play for Royal Antwerp in Belgium, Fortuna Sittard in the Netherlands and Platanias in Greece.
He later established himself in Spanish football, with his spell at Levante marking a significant phase of his career. Malsa also played for Moroccan club Wydad AC and featured for the side at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
At the international level, Malsa represents Martinique, adding further experience to his professional career.
His arrival is the latest step by Punjab FC to strengthen the squad with experienced players while continuing to focus on developing young Indian talent through its academy system. The club will look to benefit from Malsa’s experience in European leagues and his defensive capabilities as it prepares for the 2026-27 campaign.
