Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana has praised filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya for his storytelling and his ability to create films that connect with audiences across generations.
Speaking at the FICCI Frames event in Mumbai on Tuesday, Ayushmann discussed his upcoming film Yeh Prem Mol Liya, directed by Barjatya, and expressed his excitement about working with the filmmaker.
“ Sooraj Barjatya’s film ‘Yeh Prem Mol Liya’ will release on November 27. Our trailer will be unveiled on Diwali with ‘Ramayan’. I am very excited to work with him because he is a very legendary director. He has a very big legacy. And he has the ability to connect families. So you will see that through the film,” Ayushmann told IANS.
Barjatya is known for family-oriented films and has directed several commercially successful Hindi movies, including Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Vivah and Maine Pyar Kiya.
Yeh Prem Mol Liya marks the reunion of music composer Himesh Reshammiya and Barjatya after their collaboration on Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, released a decade ago. Reshammiya has reportedly composed seven songs for the upcoming film.
The film also stars Sharvari, marking the first on-screen pairing of her and Ayushmann. Directed by Sooraj R. Barjatya, it is produced by Rajshri Productions in association with Mahaveer Jain Films and is scheduled to release in theatres on November 27, 2026.
Ayushmann also spoke about his other upcoming film, Udta Teer, which is slated to release on October 9. Describing it as a different kind of story, he called it India’s first patriotic comedy.
“My film ‘Udta Teer’ is releasing on October 9. It is a very different story. I want to say that it is India’s first patriotic comedy where I become a Pakistani spy and lose my memory in India,” he said.
Explaining his character’s journey, the actor added that the protagonist begins fighting for India despite having forgotten which country he originally belongs to.
“My character in the film starts fighting for India. So in a way, he remembers patriotism, but he forgets which country it is. So it’s a very beautiful story,” Ayushmann said.
