Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Saturday claimed that its forces had dismantled a “terror” team allegedly affiliated with the United States and Israel in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan, killing two of its members.
In a statement published by the IRGC’s official news outlet, Sepah News, the Quds Base of the IRGC Ground Force said the operation was carried out jointly with provincial police and intelligence forces.
According to the statement, the team was allegedly planning to carry out “acts of terror” against a number of “pre-determined” targets.
The latest claim comes after the IRGC said late last month that its forces had dismantled another US- and Israel-linked “terror” team in the same province, killing one member and arresting six others.
Separately, Iran’s Army said on Thursday that its forces had launched missile and kamikaze drone strikes against US military bases in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Kuwait earlier that day.
In a statement on its website, the Iranian Army said the strikes were carried out in retaliation for the deaths of Iranian military personnel and civilians in recent US attacks on Iran.
It said Iranian forces targeted US Army satellite communications systems, equipment warehouses and a fighter aircraft hangar at the Ahmad al-Jaber Air Base in Kuwait, claiming damage was caused to the communications systems and the hangar.
The Iranian Army also said its forces struck US troops and radar systems at the Al Minhad Air Base in the UAE.
It warned that Iran’s response to any attack by the US military would be “harsh and devastating” and would continue until what it described as “ultimate victory” and punishment of the aggressor.
On Wednesday, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on X that its forces had “successfully completed a wave of strikes against Iranian military targets.”
CENTCOM said the strikes followed what it described as recent attempted attacks by the IRGC against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and US service members.
