Women voters continued to outnumber men in Manipur’s final electoral rolls published on Sunday following the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) across the state, officials said.
Chief Electoral Officer Arun Kumar Sinha said that, with July 1, 2026, as the qualifying date, Manipur has 19,60,620 registered voters, including 10,06,962 women, 9,53,350 men and 308 third-gender electors.
The final electoral roll records a gender ratio of 1,056 women for every 1,000 men, significantly higher than the national average, Sinha said.
According to the CEO, 56,871 electors were added and 30,650 names deleted from the draft electoral rolls. The final rolls for all 60 Assembly constituencies across the state’s valley and hill regions were published by the respective Electoral Registration Officers (EROs).
The draft rolls, published on July 5, had 19,34,399 electors, including 9,93,660 women. A total of 1,58,677 electors whose Enumeration Forms were not received were excluded. The reasons included absence (34,740), shifting of residence (72,473), death (43,000), duplication (7,394) and other reasons (1,070).
During the claims and objections period from July 5 to August 4, authorities received 96,985 claims and objections, which were scrutinised by 60 EROs and 84 Assistant EROs.
Sinha said field verification was carried out through coordination between 2,956 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and their respective Booth Level Agents. Help desks were also established at the CEO’s office and the offices of all 16 District Election Officers.
He said the completion of the SIR reflected coordinated efforts involving officials across all 16 districts, along with BLO supervisors, BLOs and volunteers.
With 85 new polling stations added, Manipur now has 3,041 polling stations, the CEO said.
