Mumbai, September 18, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Actress Radhika Apte has spoken about the challenges women face in finding time for their own desires while balancing professional commitments, motherhood and household responsibilities.

Discussing the theme in the context of “Lust Stories 3”, Radhika said women often have little or no personal time amid demanding routines and stressed the importance of creating space for them to pursue their interests beyond their social and family roles.

Responding to a question about whether working women also struggle to find time to think about their sexual desires, she agreed, saying their lack of personal time was a larger issue.

“I think what you said is so true because women have zero time, it’s so hectic, and that’s the problem,” she told IANS.

Radhika said “Lust Stories 3” also explores the broader idea of women making time for themselves and their desires. Referring to a line from her story in which the character Coco asks whether it is time to do something for themselves, she said desire need not necessarily be sexual.

“Whether that’s a sexual desire or desire to go and, you know, go to Borivali National Park for a walk, it doesn’t matter,” she said.

The actress also discussed how motherhood can sometimes become the dominant part of a woman’s identity after she has children.

“Identity completely switches to motherhood, and that’s not true. You are also a person. There’s also a small child inside you who wants to try different things and just live life,” she said.

Radhika also pointed to the unequal distribution of domestic responsibilities between men and women. She said that after a long day at work, men may return home, eat and sleep, while women frequently continue with cooking, cleaning, childcare and other household duties.

She described managing a child and household after a long workday as exhausting and argued that sharing responsibilities more equally could help address the imbalance.

“I go to work, and it’s way easier to go to work than to spend 12 hours at home with your child. It’s exhausting. So, I think that’s why, if the duties are shared, this won’t happen,” she said.

Radhika features in the “Lust Stories 3” segment directed by filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane. The anthology premiered on Netflix on September 18 and explores themes including husband-swapping and female solidarity.
