BJP National President Nitin Nabin on Friday announced a donation of Rs 6.35 lakh, equivalent to three months of his salary as a Rajya Sabha MP, to the Bihar Chief Minister’s Relief Fund amid the severe flood situation in the state.
Nabin expressed concern over the impact of the floods and highlighted the relief and rescue measures being undertaken by the Bihar government, along with assistance from the Centre.
He said the state government had already provided more than Rs 550 crore in financial assistance to flood-affected families, with each family receiving Rs 7,000.
According to Nabin, relief camps, community kitchens, medical facilities and arrangements for livestock fodder have been established in affected areas. Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have also been deployed and are prepared to undertake rescue operations, he said.
The government is also conducting assessments of crop damage to determine the assistance required by farmers whose fields have been affected by the floods.
Nabin said the flood situation was being monitored continuously and that the entire government machinery was working to ensure relief and assistance reached affected families without delay.
He also referred to the Centre’s support, noting that Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had visited flood-affected areas, met victims and reviewed ongoing relief and rescue operations.
Nabin assured affected families that efforts to provide assistance would continue during the crisis.
Around 50 lakh people have been affected by floods across 88 blocks in 15 districts of Bihar this year, according to the information shared by Nabin.
He said the state government had also provided food to around 1.62 crore people through more than 1,000 community kitchens as part of its relief operations.
