Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited youth at the 20th Rozgar Mela on Saturday and address the new government employees through video conferencing, the Prime Minister’s Office said.
The recruits will participate simultaneously in Rozgar Mela events being organised at 45 locations across the country.
According to the PMO, the newly appointed candidates will join various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India, including the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of Financial Services and Ministry of Defence.
The Rozgar Mela initiative is aimed at creating employment opportunities for young people and facilitating their participation in the country’s development, the PMO said.
With the 20th edition, approximately 12.75 lakh youth will have received appointment letters through Rozgar Melas in various government departments and organisations, according to the statement.
At the previous Rozgar Mela held in May, the Prime Minister had distributed more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited youth joining different government departments and organisations.
In his message to the recruits at that event, Modi said the world was showing interest in India’s youth and technological progress. He said India was entering partnerships with different countries with the objective of providing its young population with opportunities, employment, confidence and global exposure.
The Rozgar Mela initiative began in October 2023. According to the government statement, around 12 lakh recruitment letters have been distributed through the programme since its launch, with individual events frequently involving tens of thousands of appointments.
The government describes the broader “Vikas Yatra” as India’s development journey, encompassing policy reforms, infrastructure projects, social welfare initiatives and cultural renewal as elements of national progress.
