Actress Trisha Krishnan attended Tamil Nadu’s Independence Day celebrations at Fort St George in Chennai on Saturday, where Chief Minister Vijay unfurled the national flag.
Trisha, who predominantly works in Tamil cinema, drew attention as she was seen seated alongside Vijay’s parents, filmmaker SA Chandrasekhar and Shobha Chandrasekhar, during the ceremony. Vijay and Trisha have been the subject of dating rumours since earlier this year.
Dressed in a yellow saree with a green blouse, Trisha wore her hair in a bun and appeared cheerful during the event.
Videos circulating online showed the actress saluting Vijay as he passed by while carrying out his official duties at the Independence Day function.
Speculation about a relationship between the two emerged in March. The reports followed developments concerning Vijay’s personal life, including reports about his wife Sangeetha Sornalingam seeking divorce and referring to an unnamed actress in connection with alleged infidelity. The claims have remained a subject of media speculation.
Trisha and Vijay were later seen wearing coordinated outfits at a wedding reception in Chennai, further fuelling speculation about their relationship.
Trisha had also attended Vijay’s swearing-in ceremony in May. On that occasion, she wore a teal-and-gold saree with a cream blouse and was accompanied by her mother, Uma Krishnan, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai.
Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) emerged as the single-largest party in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections after winning 108 of the 234 seats, according to the source material.
The party subsequently formed the government with support from several smaller parties, including the Indian National Congress, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Indian Union Muslim League and Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam.
