Actor Harshvardhan Rane marked Teachers’ Day on Saturday with a heartfelt tribute to the people he considers his teachers and “Godfathers”, including actor-producer John Abraham and filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma.
Sharing a series of pictures on social media, Rane offered a glimpse of the relationships he has developed during his journey in the film industry. One photograph shows him sharing a warm moment with John Abraham, while two others feature him with Varma.
Alongside the pictures, Rane wrote, “To my teachers, my Godfathers. #HappyTeachersDay”, adding in Hindi that he continues to learn from them by simply keeping at his work.
Rane began his acting career on television before making his Telugu film debut with Thakita Thakita in 2010. He made his Hindi film debut with Sanam Teri Kasam in 2016 and subsequently appeared in films including Paltan, Taish, Haseen Dillruba, Tara Vs Bilal, Dange, Savi and The Miranda Brothers.
Sanam Teri Kasam eventually became a defining film in his career. Although the romantic drama initially had a modest theatrical run, it developed a strong following through television, OTT platforms and word of mouth. Its theatrical re-release in 2025, nine years after its original release, turned into a major commercial success.
Rane’s subsequent popularity was further boosted by Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, his 2025 romantic drama co-starring Sonam Bajwa, which also performed strongly at the box office.
Rane has spoken about his long-standing association with John Abraham. According to reports, he first met Abraham in 2004 while working as a delivery boy and delivering a helmet to the actor. Years later, Abraham produced Rane’s Tara Vs Bilal.
Rane also shares a close professional association with Ram Gopal Varma, who is set to direct him in Police Company, a crime thriller based on Mumbai encounter specialist Daya Nayak. Rane will reportedly portray the police officer.
Alongside his film commitments and physically demanding roles, Rane has also been pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Honours), offering glimpses of his academic journey on social media.
