The Haryana State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB) has arrested an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) posted at City Bahadurgarh police station in Jhajjar district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1.50 lakh.

The arrested police official has been identified as ASI Naveen, who was posted as an investigating officer at City Bahadurgarh police station.

According to the SV&ACB, the complainant approached the bureau alleging that Naveen had initially demanded Rs 3 lakh in bribe. The amount was subsequently settled at Rs 1.50 lakh.

The bribe was allegedly sought in exchange for removing the names of the complainant’s wife Anu Chahal, sister-in-law Jannat and father-in-law Dharmendra from a criminal case.

The case in question is FIR No. 502, registered on December 7, 2024, under Sections 406 and 420 of the IPC at City Bahadurgarh police station against the complainant’s mother-in-law, Sunita Chahal.

Following receipt of the complaint, the SV&ACB team laid a trap as per procedure. ASI Naveen, Police Number 688/Jhajjar, was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting Rs 1.50 lakh from the complainant.

The Rohtak unit of the SV&ACB has registered FIR No. 30 dated September 21, 2026, under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act against the accused official.

The trap operation was conducted under the supervision of the SV&ACB unit in Jhajjar.

The Haryana Police and the SV&ACB said action against officials and employees allegedly involved in bribery would continue under the state’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption.
