Actress Parineeti Chopra has come out in support of her Shaque: Trust No co-star Jennifer Winget after a video from the film’s success party sparked online speculation about their equation.
The clip, which went viral on social media, showed Jennifer standing behind Parineeti during a cake-cutting moment. Some users criticised Parineeti for allegedly not making enough space for her co-star, prompting Jennifer to clarify that the incident had been blown out of proportion.
Reacting to the controversy, Parineeti took to Instagram Stories to criticise what she described as “self-proclaimed journalists” for manufacturing controversies and offering misleading interpretations of the video.
“Jenny and I have spent the last two days watching some rather ‘creative’ videos by self-proclaimed journalists. And guess what? The joke’s on you, because we’ve been laughing. Hysterically! Your wild interpretations only make you look foolish,” she wrote.
Reaffirming her affection for Jennifer, Parineeti called her “my favourite girl” and praised her performance in Shaque.
“Jenny is, and will ALWAYS be, my favourite girl! She was my favourite in Shaque, and what a brilliant actor she is!” Parineeti said, adding that those creating controversies for a few minutes of fame should focus on more meaningful pursuits.
Jennifer had earlier addressed the speculation through her own Instagram Story, asking people to avoid negativity and refrain from turning the incident into something it was not.
“Let’s please be kinder to each other and stop the negativity and make this into something it isn’t. I simply backed out because there was not enough space there,” she explained.
She also said Parineeti had always been kind and loving towards her, emphasising that the two shared mutual affection and worked as a team.
“There’s enough room for all of us to shine without pulling each other down,” Jennifer added.
The actresses’ statements sought to put an end to speculation surrounding the brief moment at the celebration.
