New Delhi, October 22, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday accused Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi of seeking foreign interference in India’s internal affairs, alleging links between international organisations and protests in the country. BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia also levelled strong allegations against the Congress leader, describing him as a “traitor”.

Addressing a press conference, Bhatia cited a media report that, he claimed, suggested possible links between foreign organisations and protests taking place in India. He alleged that attempts were being made to interfere in the country’s internal matters through international networks.

“It is India’s misfortune that its LoP (Rahul Gandhi) is irresponsible and, according to the facts that I will present, it would not be wrong to call him a traitor,” Bhatia said.

Referring to a Fox News report that mentioned a France-based organisation called Indian Alliance Paris, the BJP spokesperson alleged that the group had supported Rahul Gandhi during protests and amplified his social media posts.

“When Rahul Gandhi was creating turmoil in India… the protest he was carrying out was merely a pretext, his real objective was to spread anarchy,” Bhatia alleged.

He claimed that Indian Alliance Paris had shared videos of Gandhi’s detention during a protest on October 6 and had criticised India’s democratic system. Bhatia described the organisation’s activities as interference in India’s internal affairs.

The BJP spokesperson also referred to photographs shared on the Congress party’s X account, claiming that senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi had met a delegation from Progressive International at 10 Janpath in New Delhi.

Bhatia alleged that the meeting raised questions about the Congress leadership’s political activities and its approach towards constitutional institutions. He linked the issue to Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of vote theft and his criticism of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

“The model of alleged vote theft, Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and anarchy, and Rahul Gandhi’s resolve to destroy all constitutional institutions, begins here. And he will not deny it,” Bhatia said, using the derogatory term “Rahul Gaddar” for the Congress leader.

Citing what he described as findings from a Fox News digital investigation, Bhatia claimed that events in France and political upheavals in other countries were connected to protests in India.

He alleged that 101 organisations across nine countries had created an ecosystem aimed at overthrowing duly elected governments and described it as a “red-green ecosystem of protests”. He said the term referred to Communist and Islamist groups.

Bhatia further alleged that Progressive International was linked to events in Spain, Albania and India, claiming that the objective was to destabilise elected governments and disrupt democratic institutions. These assertions were presented by the BJP spokesperson while citing the media report.

He questioned whether Rahul Gandhi was relying on foreign organisations because he could not act independently, and accused him of associating with groups he described as “anti-India”.

“They may be anti-India, but how can India’s Leader of Opposition be ‘anti-India’? How can he betray the country?” Bhatia asked.

The BJP leader also referred to a social media post by Shiv Sena-UBT MP Sanjay Raut concerning violence in Albania, characterising it as a “signal to attack” constitutional institutions in India.

Raising concerns about the security and dignity of Parliament and the Supreme Court, Bhatia alleged that Rahul Gandhi had entered the Supreme Court premises with a group of people under the pretext of filing a petition. He said the matter had been taken cognisance of by the Supreme Court.

Bhatia also questioned Gandhi’s meeting with British MP Jeremy Corbyn, alleging that Corbyn did not consider Kashmir an integral part of India. He asked why the Congress leader had met the British parliamentarian.

Drawing a parallel with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Vijayadashami message, Bhatia said the Prime Minister had urged people to remain vigilant against forces seeking to weaken the country.

“How can the LoP urge external forces to interfere in our internal matters? That itself is treason,” the BJP spokesperson said.

Bhatia called on Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi to publicly disclose the details of their meeting with Progressive International, arguing that citizens deserved to know what had been discussed.

He also questioned the source of funding for protests that he alleged were intended to create unrest, asking whether the money came from George Soros, Jeremy Corbyn or Progressive International.

While acknowledging that protests are a democratic right, Bhatia said violence and damage to public institutions were offences punishable by imprisonment.

In a final warning directed at Rahul Gandhi, the BJP spokesperson said: “If you hate India, the day is not far when the people will not even allow you to set foot on Indian soil.”
