Cardiovascular surgeon Dr Shriram Nene has marked his 27th wedding anniversary with Bollywood star Madhuri Dixit by sharing unseen photographs from their intimate wedding ceremony at the Beverly Hills courthouse in California.
Nene took to social media on Thursday to revisit the couple’s special moments, including pictures of them exchanging rings and celebrating their new beginning with family and friends.
In one photograph, Madhuri, dressed in an elegant ivory outfit, smiles as Nene, wearing a dark suit and patterned tie, places a ring on her finger. Other pictures show the couple sharing a celebratory meal and raising a toast with their loved ones.
Sharing the photographs, Nene reflected on their journey together, writing, “27 years ago today, at the Beverly Hills courthouse, we said ‘I do’ and began the adventure of a lifetime.”
He added that the couple had since welcomed two sons, created countless memories, navigated challenges and shared plenty of laughter. “I’d choose you all over again,” he wrote, wishing Madhuri a happy anniversary and looking forward to the chapters still to come.
The anniversary post offers a glimpse into the couple’s life before they became one of Bollywood’s most admired celebrity couples. Madhuri married Nene in California in October 1999, when she was among the leading stars of Hindi cinema.
Nene, who grew up in the United States and pursued a career in medicine, was unfamiliar with the scale of Madhuri’s stardom in India when they met through her brother. Madhuri has previously spoken about how refreshing it was to connect with someone who did not approach her primarily as a celebrity.
After their wedding, Madhuri moved to Denver, Colorado, where Nene was pursuing his medical career. The couple welcomed their elder son, Arin, in March 2003, followed by their younger son, Ryan, in March 2005.
Madhuri returned to films with Aaja Nachle in 2007. The family moved back to India in 2011, after which she gradually resumed her film career, appearing in projects including Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Gulaab Gang, Total Dhamaal, Kalank, Maja Ma and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
