Mumbai, October 15, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Actress Kirti Kulhari has described her upcoming film Kinaare as her “first child” as a producer, saying the project holds a special place in her heart as she prepares to present her maiden feature production at the Dharamshala International Film Festival (DIFF).

Kulhari said she was drawn to the film by its simple, heartwarming and subtle storytelling, which reminded her of the Iranian cinema she has long admired. The project also allowed her to pursue an independent filmmaking approach, bringing together a team united by their passion for cinema.

“Kinaare is a film that happens to be my first child as a producer, and that will always remain special. It’s a script that really resonated with me,” Kulhari said, adding that she knew she had to make the film when the story came her way.

She said she was proud to have brought the project to life on her own creative terms, with every member of the team believing in the script and supporting the film because of what it represents.

Co-star Rajeev Siddhartha said the script gave him an opportunity to explore the spaces between the written words, something he believes actors look forward to experiencing. He described Kinaare as a story with a universal theme, expressing hope that audiences would be emotionally moved by the film.

Set in a village near Delhi, the film follows Amina, played by Kulhari, a single woman whose life revolves around caring for her ageing parents and looking after her home. Her routine is disrupted when her cousin Azam arrives unexpectedly after 15 years, bringing back memories of a past that fractured the family.

Written and directed by brothers Akbar Qadri and Azam Qadri, the film is backed by Kulhari under her production banner, Kintsukuroi Films. Abhishek Koka and Maansi Guptey are co-producers.

The film also features Alka Amin and Ravi Taneja alongside Kulhari and Siddhartha. Its premiere at DIFF marks a significant milestone in Kulhari’s journey from acting to independent film production.
