Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has shared pictures with his father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, celebrating his spirit and resilience as he turns 91. In a heartfelt social media post on Thursday, the actor affectionately described his father as the “real monster” and expressed gratitude for the blessings in his life.
The pictures show the father-son duo posing together in cowboy hats. Sharing the photographs, Salman combined humour, affection and admiration in his caption, writing, “Howdy partner hee haw at 91 at 1 having one, baap baap hota hai, he is the real monster, hum sab ke baap mein hai dum Vande Mataram. Ek aur din nahi hota ek aur din kam hota hai, u guys get it? God’s been kind ..”
Salman has often spoken about his close bond with his father and the values and guidance he received from him. Salim, one of Hindi cinema’s most influential screenwriters, rose to prominence through his celebrated partnership with Javed Akhtar.
Together, Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar scripted several landmark films, including Sholay, Deewaar, Zanjeer and Don, leaving a lasting mark on Indian cinema.
The latest post comes months after Salim Khan’s hospitalisation raised concerns among family members. He was admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital in February and remained under medical observation.
Salman’s younger brother, actor Sohail Khan, later recalled the distressing period during an appearance on the reality show Alliance. Sohail said their father had slipped into a semi-coma during his hospital stay and recalled the emotional impact of doctors warning the family that they might lose him.
Describing his reaction, Sohail said, “My heart sank,” as he recalled the fear of potentially losing his father.
