Surat, October 13, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Police in Gujarat’s Surat have apprehended 16 alleged fake doctors operating clinics in the Pandesara area, seizing medicines, injections, syrups and medical equipment worth Rs 1.82 lakh during coordinated raids with the district health department.

According to the Surat City Special Operations Group (SOG), the alleged practitioners had educational qualifications ranging from Class 10 and Class 12 to bachelor’s degrees, but were operating clinics without recognised medical qualifications or on the basis of allegedly forged credentials.

The operation followed instructions from Police Commissioner Wabang Jamir to identify clinics run by unqualified practitioners amid concerns that patients’ lives were being put at risk.

Under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajdeepsinh Nakum, an SOG team led by Inspector A.S. Sonara first sent dummy patients to clinics in Pandesara to verify the information before coordinating simultaneous raids with health officials.

The 16 individuals, aged between 23 and 58, were allegedly running clinics under various names, including Bharat Clinic, Sai Dham Clinic, Neer Clinic, Narayan Clinic, Sai Clinic, Free Sevasadan, Shri Krishna Clinic and Gurukrupa Clinic.

Police said their experience ranged from several months to more than three decades. Some had reportedly worked as compounders or helpers at hospitals and nursing homes before starting their own practices.

Investigators found that several of the alleged practitioners treated between five and 35 patients daily, with reported earnings ranging from Rs 700 to Rs 40,000 a day.

The highest reported daily income was attributed to Kapilkumar Verma, 58, who allegedly operated Free Sevasadan and had been practising at different locations for 33 years. Police said he had studied up to Class 10 and learnt medical practice from books.

The SOG also cited previous cases involving some of the accused, including cases registered against Shiyaram Morya in 2002 and Vinodbhai Biswas Chansi in 2008.

Police said cases had been registered against all 16 at Pandesara police station and legal proceedings initiated. The district health department will separately pursue action under the Clinical Establishments Act.
