Olympians Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Mairaj Ahmad Khan, along with Bhavtegh Singh, won the bronze medal in the men’s skeet team event at the Asian Games 2026 in Nagoya on Wednesday.
The Indian trio posted a combined score of 346 to secure India’s seventh shooting medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Games. Qatar won the gold medal, while Kuwait took silver.
Anantjeet also advanced to the individual final after scoring 119/125 in qualification, emerging as the only Indian shooter from the men’s team to make the medal round. Mairaj scored 116/125 and Bhavtegh 111/125 and both missed out on qualification for the final, scheduled later on Wednesday.
India had earlier won bronze in the women’s skeet team event through Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Razia Dhillon and Maheshwari Chauhan. Razia and Parinaaz subsequently qualified for the women’s skeet individual final after finishing seventh and eighth, respectively, in qualification.
India also endured a medal-less day in the 10m air pistol events. Double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker finished fifth in the women’s individual final with 181.1, while the Indian women’s team had earlier missed the bronze medal by two inner 10s.
The Indian trio of Bhaker, Esha Singh and Suruchi finished fourth in the team event with 1719-44x. Vietnam won bronze with 1719-46x, while China secured gold with 1735-56x and South Korea claimed silver with 1730-55x.
India’s shooting campaign began with silver in the women’s 10m air rifle team event, where Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar and Vidarsa Vinod combined for the medal. Elavenil also won individual silver. Himanshu Dhillon and Rudrankksh Patil later secured silver in the men’s 10m air rifle team event, followed by individual silver for Himanshu and bronze for Rudrankksh.
The men’s skeet bronze took India’s shooting tally at the 2026 Asian Games to seven medals — four silver and three bronze.
At the Hangzhou Asian Games, India had produced its best-ever shooting performance, winning 22 medals, including seven gold, nine silver and six bronze.
India’s overall medal tally in Aichi-Nagoya has now reached 10, comprising one gold, four silver and five bronze.
