Faridabad, September 18, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
The State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB), Faridabad, has arrested a clerk posted at the office of the Registrar, Firms and Societies-cum-District Industries Centre for allegedly accepting a ₹20,000 bribe from a complainant in exchange for providing financial records related to a Resident Welfare Forum (RWF).
The accused, identified as Rahul Tyagi, allegedly demanded a total bribe of ₹45,000 for providing financial records pertaining to the previous tenure of an RWF in Faridabad.
An FIR (No. 20) was registered against Tyagi on September 18 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act at the SV&ACB police station in Faridabad.
According to the complaint, the complainant, a resident of Sector 16, had sought financial records relating to the previous nearly eight-year tenure of the area’s RWF. The records were available at the Registrar’s office.
The complainant submitted an application for the records on September 15. The same day, he received a call from the Registrar’s office asking him to visit on September 16.
According to the complaint, when he reached the office, Tyagi allegedly told him that he would have to pay money if he wanted the records to be provided quickly. The clerk allegedly initially demanded ₹60,000, which was subsequently negotiated down to ₹45,000.
The complainant then approached the SV&ACB, Faridabad. After verifying the complaint and completing the required formalities, the bureau planned a trap operation.
During the operation, Tyagi allegedly accepted ₹20,000 as an advance from the complainant. The SV&ACB team arrested him on the spot after he accepted the money and recovered the alleged bribe amount from his possession.
The bureau said the trap operation was conducted as per prescribed procedures, including compliance with Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.
Further questioning of the accused and investigation into the case are underway, the SV&ACB said.
