Women’s Asia Cup: N Sree Charani Urges India to Stick to Strengths After Pakistan Win

Dubai, September 6, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

India spinner N Sree Charani stressed the importance of sticking to the team’s strengths on challenging pitches after India’s spinners dismantled Pakistan to secure a comfortable seven-wicket victory in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup here on Saturday.

Charani and Prema Rawat claimed three wickets each as Pakistan were bowled out for just 55 in 18.1 overs. India chased down the target in only 8.4 overs, registering their fifth consecutive T20I victory over their arch-rivals.

With the surface offering grip and sharp turn, India’s spinners consistently troubled Pakistan’s batters through flight, drift and disciplined bowling. Charani returned impressive figures of 3/7 from four overs, while Rawat finished with 3/9.

Speaking in a video shared by the BCCI, Charani said the conditions made it vital for the players to trust their established methods.

“The learnings are the same. You just need to stick to your strengths here because of the pitches that we are playing. It’s crucial to stick to our strengths. If we follow that, then we will do well going forward,” she said.

Charani also praised Rawat, with the pair accounting for six of Pakistan’s 10 wickets.

“I didn’t like her wicket, but I liked her celebration,” Charani said.

She credited India coach Avishkar Salvi for helping the players prepare for different match situations during training.

“He tells us to just do reps on the ball. He watches us. He also gives us inputs, whatever the situation is,” she said, adding that Salvi guides the players whenever something goes wrong.

Rawat said deliberately recreating pressure situations in practice had helped her become more comfortable on the international stage.

“Because of that, I am used to it now. So, it feels good,” she said.

She also emphasised the importance of carrying the team’s winning momentum into the next stage of the tournament.

India’s chase briefly came under pressure when Pakistan captain Fatima Sana claimed three wickets in the powerplay, dismissing Shafali Verma, Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana.

However, Harmanpreet Kaur, unbeaten on 18, and Deepti Sharma ensured there were no further setbacks as India completed another emphatic win over Pakistan.
