Rapper Bad Bunny has won his first Emmy Award for the Super Bowl LX Halftime Show at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards.
The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny was among the major winners at the first of two ceremonies held this weekend at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
The halftime show won awards in several categories, including directing, lighting design, music direction, sound mixing, choreography and technical direction.
The Traitors was another major winner, taking home awards for hosting, directing, picture editing, cinematography and production design.
According to Deadline, the awards double bill, formerly known as the Creative Arts Emmys, will lead into the televised Primetime Emmys ceremony scheduled for September 14 on NBC and Peacock.
In individual categories, Jimmy Kimmel won the Emmy for best game show host, while Octavia Spencer was honoured for narrating Lost Women of Alaska.
Mariska Hargitay was among the other notable winners, taking home Emmys for best documentary and directing for My Mom Jayne. The emotional Hargitay, who has previously won an Emmy for Law & Order: SVU, said, “I can’t believe I get to do all this great stuff.”
Hargitay is also set to host the Primetime Emmy Awards next Monday.
Wanda Sykes opened the ceremony by welcoming the audience to “one-third of television’s biggest night”, referring to the Television Academy’s decision to divide the awards previously known as the Creative Arts Emmys into Emmys Night 1 and Night 2.
“The Emmys are spread across three glorious nights. It’s a little like the friend who celebrates a birthday month because they like free margaritas,” Sykes joked.
The weekend’s ceremonies will present a total of 102 Emmy statuettes across numerous categories. The awards include honours for guest actors, supporting actors and actresses in limited series, and writing for a limited series.
