Jamaican-American singer Shaggy has marked 24 years of his iconic track Hey Sexy Lady, saying the song continues to resonate with audiences more than two decades after its release.
Shaggy took to Instagram and shared the song’s music video, along with a text overlay celebrating its 24th anniversary. He also thanked fans for continuing to dance to the track over the years, from its early days to stages around the world.
“24 years later and this one still hits the same!!!! From the original video to stages around the world, thanks to everyone who’s been rockin’ with me all these years,” he wrote.
Known for hits including It Wasn’t Me, Boombastic, In the Summertime, Oh Carolina and Angel, Shaggy has been nominated for eight Grammy Awards and won twice for Best Reggae Album — for Boombastic in 1996 and 44/876, his 2019 collaboration with Sting.
He also won the Brit Award for International Male Solo Artist in 2002. In 2007, he received the Jamaican Order of Distinction with the rank of Commander, while Brown University awarded him an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree in 2022.
Shaggy began pursuing music professionally in the early 1990s, scoring his first major hit with Oh Carolina in 1993, a dancehall remake of the Folkes Brothers’ ska song that featured in the film Sliver. He followed it with major successes including Boombastic in 1995.
More recently, Shaggy released Lottery, a 13-track studio album featuring collaborations with Jeremih, Robin Thicke, Dexta Daps, Sting and Anthony Hamilton.
In June 2026, he was featured on the Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Album with Love Always Wins, a collaboration with Cimafunk and Zema.
