The Gujarat Police State Monitoring Cell (SMC) has raided four spas in Ahmedabad and arrested nine people in separate cases alleging prostitution activities being operated under the cover of spa services. Ten others have been named as wanted accused.
The raids were conducted at The Galaxy Spa, Blossom Spa, A9 Spa and Oranz Spa under the jurisdictions of Bodakdev, Satellite and Vastrapur police stations. Police said property worth a combined Rs 5.29 lakh was seized.
According to the SMC, the establishments were allegedly being used as brothels, with sex workers kept on the premises and customers offered sexual services for financial consideration. Cases have been registered under provisions of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
At The Galaxy Spa on Sindhubhavan Road in Bodakdev, police arrested manager Bhavik Vithalapara and seized four mobile phones, a DVR, eight condoms, cash and other material valued at Rs 1.26 lakh. Kilika Amusi and Mohsin Rangrej, identified as operators, along with manager Rambabu and an associate identified as Manish, were named as wanted accused.
At Blossom Spa in Seesta Business Park, Thaltej, receptionist/therapist Bharti Damani and assistant Ankitkumar Batham were arrested. Police seized four mobile phones, a DVR, cash and other items worth Rs 71,870. Operator Harshvardhan Jadhav and manager Kiranbhai were named as wanted accused.
At A9 Spa, near Iskcon Cross Roads, police arrested operator Pravinbhai Vora and managers Naisad Siddiqui and Nischal Thakkar. The seized material, valued at Rs 2.36 lakh, included six mobile phones, a computer CPU, laptop, two DVRs, two card-swiping machines, eight condoms, a currency counting machine, KOT machine, two walkie-talkies, a UPI scanner and cash. Owner Narendrasinh Rathod and manager Kaushal Thakkar were named as wanted accused.
At Oranz Spa near Vastrapur Lake, manager Raghuvirsinh Rajput and customers Devin Desai and Jaydev Dodiya were arrested. Police seized two mobile phones, a laptop, cash and other items worth Rs 95,500. Owner Virendrakumar Singh and manager Manish Ramswaroop Piplivala were named as wanted accused.
The Oranz Spa case was registered at Vastrapur Police Station under Sections 3, 4, 5 and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and Section 54 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The State Monitoring Cell said the raids formed part of its action against illegal activities across Gujarat.
