BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia on Monday claimed that even if hundreds of Akhilesh Yadavs and thousands of Asaduddin Owaisis join forces, they would not be able to stop the BJP from winning the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
“In 2027, the lotus will bloom again. The main issues — law and order is strong, Uttar Pradesh is developing, and when it comes to women’s respect and dignity, Yogi Adityanath has taken full care of it,” Bhatia told IANS while responding to AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s recent call for like-minded parties to consider an alliance ahead of the elections.
Bhatia also criticised what he described as “communal” and “appeasement” politics, saying such statements should not be given importance.
BJP MLA Ram Kadam claimed that Owaisi’s alliance proposal and remarks by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav indicated that opposition parties were concerned about the upcoming elections.
“Now, on one hand, there is this statement from Owaisi, and on the other hand, there are the harsh words of Akhilesh Yadav — sometimes saying ‘chavanni’, sometimes saying something else. What do all these fearful statements confirm? They show that they have already accepted defeat even before the elections,” Kadam said.
He further claimed that a BJP government would again be formed in Uttar Pradesh under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Minister Jaiveer Singh said the BJP would contest the election on its own strength.
“Whatever Owaisi is saying is on his own accord. We are a strong party and will fight on our own strength. Whether everyone comes together or contests separately, it makes no difference to us,” he said.
Ambedkar Nagar Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar also commented on the possibility of an alliance, asking political parties to wait until October 27. He questioned whether Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi would accept Owaisi as a leader representing Muslims.
Rajbhar also claimed that Owaisi wanted a Muslim to become Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, which he said neither Akhilesh Yadav nor Rahul Gandhi would support.
BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said Owaisi had made alliance appeals before previous elections as well.
“It’s up to them whether they form an alliance or run away from each other. They have their own companions; they have their own team,” Naqvi said.
Shiv Sena spokesperson Shaina NC also expressed confidence in the NDA, saying Owaisi could make as much effort as he wanted but the NDA would continue to rely on its record of work and results. She also criticised what she described as “appeasement politics”.
The BJP leaders were responding to Owaisi’s recent outreach to opposition parties ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Owaisi has said AIMIM is open to working with like-minded political groups, arguing that no single political party can stop the BJP on its own.
Owaisi has also said AIMIM will announce its decision on a possible electoral alliance by October 2.
