Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) president Sharad Pawar was discharged from Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune on Wednesday after his health improved and doctors confirmed that his condition was stable.
Pawar left for his Mumbai residence following two days of treatment, according to an official statement issued by Dr Parvez K. Grant, Chief Cardiologist, Chairman and Managing Trustee of Ruby Hall Clinic.
His daughter and Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule also confirmed the development in a post on X, saying her father was feeling much better. She thanked the hospital team for his treatment and expressed gratitude to those who had sent their wishes.
Pawar was admitted to the hospital on Monday after experiencing a cough, chest discomfort and pain while coughing and breathing. He was examined by doctors and kept under observation as a precaution, with treatment provided under Dr Grant’s supervision.
The 85-year-old leader had cut short his tour of drought-affected areas in Maharashtra after feeling unwell. He had visited parts of Solapur district on November 1 to assess the situation and interact with farmers facing water shortages and crop-related difficulties.
During his visit to Tulshi village in Madha taluka, Pawar announced assistance of Rs 50 lakh and identified drinking water, fodder for cattle and employment support as immediate priorities. He also called for political cooperation and financial assistance from the state and central governments to address the crisis.
Pawar’s hospitalisation had prompted concern among party workers and supporters. Sule had earlier said that his vital health parameters were normal and stable while he underwent medical tests.
This was his third hospital admission this year. He was earlier treated at Ruby Hall Clinic for a chest infection and cough in February and was hospitalised again later that month for mild dehydration.
