Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana has reportedly received a threatening audio message from a person claiming to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and demanding crores of rupees, sources said.
According to the sources, police are matching the sender’s voice with recordings of accused persons already in their records. The cyber cell is also tracing the number and location from which the message was sent.
The development comes after actor Tusshar Kapoor reportedly received a similar audio threat, with the sender claiming to be Lawrence Bishnoi gang member Harry Boxxer and demanding Rs 5 crore. Preliminary investigation reportedly suggested that the audio could be fake.
Boxxer had also reportedly issued threats to actor Ranveer Singh and filmmaker Rohit Shetty in February. Reports said he was detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers in California.
Meanwhile, the Lawrence Bishnoi group had claimed responsibility for the October 18 firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff. A representative of the group, Anil Pandit, posted a threat on social media targeting people working closely with Salman Khan.
In an audio clip, the sender warned Salman Khan to apologise to Lawrence Bishnoi or the Bishnoi community, threatening harm to his family.
Police are investigating the recent threats to identify the individuals or groups behind the messages.
