Chandigarh, November 3, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Punjab Government has distributed over 2.19 lakh Property Cards across 1,377 villages in all 23 districts under its ‘Mera Ghar Mere Naam’ scheme as of November 2, 2026. The initiative aims to provide legally recognised ownership documents to residents of Lal Lakir (Abadi Deh) areas across the state.

Addressing a press conference at Punjab Bhawan, Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian said the scheme would cover all 10,689 villages through drone-based surveys and preparation of an authentic Record of Rights.

The distribution began at a state-level function in Sangrur on October 7. The work is being carried out in four phases. The first phase, covering 2,284 villages, is expected to be completed by November 15. The second phase covers 1,680 villages and is targeted for completion by November-end, while the third phase covering 1,152 villages is expected to finish by mid-December. The remaining 5,579 villages are likely to be covered by January 2027.

Mundian said the scheme would particularly benefit economically weaker sections and Scheduled Caste families for whom a house in the Abadi Deh is often their only immovable asset. Property Cards will provide documentary proof of ownership, help minimise property disputes, facilitate registration and enable owners to seek bank loans against their properties.

He said village-level committees and Gram Sabhas were working with the department to complete missing information and resolve objections concerning village maps. Where drone surveys could not be conducted due to technical constraints, the process would be completed through ground truthing.

Residents can approach their Halqa Patwari or Tehsildar to report clerical errors or discrepancies in their Property Cards. Mundian said an online portal for correction requests would be launched shortly, allowing people to seek rectification without visiting government offices. The detailed scheme information also mentions an online correction facility from December 2026.

The minister urged residents to collect their cards and check the recorded details carefully. He said distribution would continue daily until all targeted villages were covered.
