Persatuan Cricket Indonesia chairman Abhiram Singh Yadav has confirmed his candidature for the vacant Associate Member position on the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Chief Executives’ Committee (CEC).
The vacancy arose after France’s Gurumurthy Palani was elected to the ICC Board at the organisation’s annual conference in Edinburgh in July. The successful candidate will serve the remaining 10 months of the current two-year term alongside existing members Gurdeep Klair and Anuraag Bhatnagar, before fresh elections are held next year.
Yadav is the only candidate from the Asia and East Asia-Pacific (EAP) regions. The other contenders are Sarah Gomersall, CEO of Jersey Cricket; Rashid Khan of the Royal Dutch Cricket Association (KNCB); and Vignesh Sankaran, Vice-President of the Deutscher Cricket Bund in Germany.
The representative will be elected by an electoral college comprising 43 Associate nations, with 14 votes from Asia, six from EAP, 11 from Africa, 10 from Europe and two from the Americas. The USA and Canada are ineligible to vote.
Yadav is campaigning on a platform of structured consultation and equal opportunity. His six priorities include strengthening the Associate voice, expanding competitive pathways, ensuring fair resource allocation, developing knowledge-sharing networks, maximising opportunities through multi-sport events such as the Olympics, and ensuring accountability after the election.
He stressed that the priorities should be shaped by individual Members based on their specific requirements, which could range from infrastructure and domestic cricket to coaching, women’s and youth pathways, governance and commercial development.
Under Yadav’s leadership, Indonesia qualified for the inaugural ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in 2023 and made its Women’s Asia Cup debut in Dubai in 2026. He is also exploring the development of permanent turf grounds as part of the Bali International Oval project, an initiative publicly praised by ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta.
Yadav said Associate cricket should not be divided along regional lines and emphasised the need for stronger collaboration among Members across all regions.
“I don’t claim to have every answer. I will listen before I speak, learn before I decide, represent fairly and, if given the responsibility, I will serve with humility, preparation and accountability,” he said.
