Chandigarh, November 4, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday accused the BJP-led Union Government of using central investigative agencies to target AAP leaders and suppress dissent, asserting that repeated raids would not deter his government from working for the people of Punjab.

Reacting to raids at the residence of AAP MLA Dr Amandeep Kaur, Mann alleged that central agencies were being directed by the BJP to target opposition leaders but would find nothing against AAP leaders. He said political intimidation and vendetta would neither weaken the Aam Aadmi Party nor derail Punjab’s development agenda.

“The BJP-led Union Government is using central investigative agencies as political weapons to intimidate opposition leaders and silence those questioning its policies,” Mann said, adding that the Centre should focus on public concerns instead of using agencies to settle political scores.

On political rallies, the Chief Minister said Rahul Gandhi and other leaders were free to organise public meetings and exercise their democratic rights. He also stressed that elected representatives had responsibilities beyond winning elections, including standing by their party and contributing to organisational activities.

Highlighting his government’s initiatives, Mann cited Aam Aadmi Clinics, improvements in government schools and the development of more than 2,000 playgrounds across Punjab. He also referred to the cleaning of drains under the Seechewal Model and the restoration of canal-water facilities in areas that had remained deprived of them for decades.

On agriculture, he said farmers were receiving electricity during morning hours, providing them relief. He added that around 50 buses were operating daily under the Mukh Mantri Tirath Yatra Yojana, enabling nearly 2,000 devotees to visit religious destinations within and outside Punjab.

Referring to the Asian Champions Trophy, Mann invited sports enthusiasts to watch the India-Korea semi-final, saying the tournament had showcased Punjab’s passion for hockey. He said his government was committed to strengthening sports infrastructure and encouraging young people to excel at national and international levels.

The Chief Minister also said his government would not use financial constraints as an excuse to avoid its responsibilities towards employees, farmers, youth and other sections of society. He rejected attempts to tarnish Punjab’s image through what he described as distorted facts.

Responding to a question on candidate announcements, Mann said the declaration of 40 candidates was part of an ongoing organisational process and the remaining names would be announced in due course.

Reiterating his government’s priorities, Mann said political opponents could hatch conspiracies and agencies could create pressure, but the government’s focus would remain on development, public welfare and fulfilling its promises to the people of Punjab.
