Music composer and singer Daboo Malik has described watching his son Armaan Malik perform alongside Shankar Mahadevan as a “full circle” moment, bringing back memories of an early milestone in his own television career.
In a social media post, Daboo shared a photograph with Shankar and recalled his first television show, ‘Harmony’, which aired on Sony. He said he had conceptualised and music-directed the programme, with Shankar being one of its most important performers.
According to Daboo, the show also marked Shankar’s first television performance. The singer had performed songs associated with legendary voices Mohammed Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar, along with other classics, during the concert.
Daboo said the memories came rushing back when Armaan shared the stage with Shankar at a joint concert. He also recalled spending time with the singer, exchanging stories about their respective journeys and enjoying the reunion.
He expressed affection for Armaan, Shankar, Akriti Kakar and Shivam Mahadevan, while thanking the event organisers and their team for the memorable experience.
Daboo comes from a family with deep roots in the Hindi music industry. He is the son of veteran composer Sardar Malik and the brother of music composer Anu Malik. His work as a composer, singer and actor includes films such as ‘Maine Dil Tujhko Diya’, ‘Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge’, ‘Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam’ and ‘I Proud to Be an Indian’.
He is also the father of singers and composers Armaan Malik and Amaal Mallik. While Armaan is known for his playback singing and independent music, Amaal has composed music for films including ‘Jai Ho’, ‘Airlift’, ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’ and ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’. Amaal also appeared on reality show ‘Bigg Boss 19’ in 2025.
