India batter Jemimah Rodrigues marked her return from a hamstring injury with a half-century as Mumbai defeated Delhi by seven wickets in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy Elite league match on Wednesday.
Chasing a target of 152, Mumbai reached 152/3 with eight balls to spare after restricting Delhi to 151/7. Following the early dismissal of opener Humairaa Kaazi for four, Jemimah and Sanika Chalke put together a match-winning 124-run partnership for the second wicket.
Jemimah scored 58 off 41 deliveries, hitting seven fours and a six at a strike rate of 141. She was eventually dismissed by Bharti Rawal, but had already put Mumbai firmly in control.
It was Jemimah’s second appearance since returning to action earlier this week. In her comeback match on November 2, she remained unbeaten on 26 off 19 balls as Mumbai defeated Uttar Pradesh by 29 runs in a nine-overs-a-side contest.
The outings provide the right-handed batter with valuable match practice ahead of India’s all-format tour of South Africa scheduled for December, as she looks to strengthen her case for selection.
Sanika, who has been picked by Mumbai Indians for the upcoming Women’s Premier League season, anchored the chase with an unbeaten 85 off 57 balls, including eight fours and two sixes.
For Delhi, Nazma Khan provided the main contribution with the bat, scoring 43 off 27 deliveries at a strike rate of 159. The all-rounder, who has been picked by Delhi Capitals for the 2027 WPL season, helped her side cross the 150-run mark but could not prevent defeat.
Mumbai, placed second in Elite Group D with 16 points, will face Pondicherry in their final league match on November 6. Table-toppers Delhi, also on 16 points, will take on Jharkhand, while third-placed Uttarakhand, likewise on 16 points, will meet Uttar Pradesh.
