BJP National Secretary and Rajouri Garden MLA, Manjinder Singh Sirsa has asked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to apologize to the Nation and expel Sajjan Kumar from Congress party for his double conviction in 1984 Sikh Genocide cases.
In a letter written to Rahul Gandhi, Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that the recent conviction of Sajjan Kumar, a senior Congress leader, for his role in the 1984 Sikh Genocide, is yet another painful reminder of one of the darkest and most shameful chapters in India’s history.
He said that for nearly four decades, victims and their families have relentlessly fought for justice against those who orchestrated, enabled, and shielded the massacre of innocent Sikhs. Now, with the court confirming his crimes for the third time, the onus is on Rahul Gandhi to act with moral courage and political accountability.
He said that he had visited Sri Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple), wear scarves, and projected himself as ally of the Sikh community. But actions always speak louder than mere symbolism.
He said that the harsh truth remains that Sajjan Kumar was not just a Congress member; he was protected, promoted, and shielded by your party for decades. He said that even now, despite his conviction, there has been no official condemnation from your leadership.
Sirsa said that if your commitment to justice and communal harmony is genuine and not just political posturing, then he must issue a public apology to the Sikh community and the entire nation for Congress’ role in sheltering and empowering criminals like Sajjan Kumar and he should expel Sajjan Kumar from the Congress party immediately and ensure that no leader involved in the 1984 massacre remains associated with your organization.
He also said that he should bring a resolution in Parliament thanking the Government for forming the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and ensuring that the 1984 genocide accused are brought to justice.
He said that though Justice delayed is justice denied, the Sikh community and the nation have neither forgotten nor forgiven. He said that this is not merely a legal matter—it is a moral test for his leadership. He asked Rahul Gandhi whether he will choose justice over political convenience or will continue to follow the same path of denial and evasion that Congress has treaded for decades?
He said that the time for mere words is over and only decisive action will determine where you truly stand. He said that he has written this letter with sincere intent and unwavering hope that his words will be met with equal sincerity and immediate action.
