New Delhi, November 8, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Eternal CEO Deepinder Goyal’s health-tech venture Temple has come under renewed scrutiny, with hepatologist Dr Cyriac Abby Philips, popularly known as The Liver Doc, questioning podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia’s public defence of the wearable and urging him to disclose his financial interest in the startup.

The criticism followed Allahbadia’s support for Temple on social media platform X, where he argued that critics should not dismiss the technology as unscientific without adequately understanding its underlying research and development.

Philips pointed out that Allahbadia is not merely endorsing the product but is also an angel investor in the company. He called for transparency about such interests when publicly defending a venture.

“Hello Ranveer, it is also prudent and ethical to disclose your interests,” Philips wrote, adding that Allahbadia, who is widely known as BeerBiceps, had participated in Temple’s $54 million seed funding round.

The exact percentage of Allahbadia’s personal equity in the startup has not been publicly specified, according to the information cited in the discussion.

The debate has brought renewed attention to Temple’s shareholding structure. A breakdown reported by Inc42 Media puts Goyal’s stake at 28.59 per cent, making him the company’s largest shareholder.

Among institutional investors, Steadview Capital holds 5.28 per cent, Peak XV Partners 3.17 per cent, Dharana Fund 2.9 per cent and QLT Technology 2.11 per cent. The shareholder list also includes startup and business figures such as Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Varun Alagh, Kunal Shah and Raj Shamani.

Employee stock ownership plans account for 10 per cent of the equity, while other shareholders collectively hold 38.06 per cent, the reported breakdown said.

The controversy centres on questions about the scientific credibility of Temple’s wearable technology and the evidence supporting its claims. Allahbadia has maintained that the project should not be dismissed without sufficient information about its research and development.
