The Punjab government has approved a 40 per cent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for 6,507 Computer Teachers (PICTES), raising it from 181 per cent to 221 per cent. It has also regularised the services of 1,007 non-teaching employees working under the Samagra Shiksha programme.
Announcing the decisions as a Diwali benefit for employees, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said the DA hike would benefit thousands of computer teachers, while regularisation would provide greater stability and security to non-teaching staff.
The Chief Minister said the government had also decided to extend salary-related benefits to the regularised employees.
Mann reiterated that his government was committed to employee welfare and providing them with a secure future.
Extending Diwali greetings, the Chief Minister said, “May this festival of lights bring happiness, progress and prosperity to every household across Punjab.”
