Actress and singer Shruti Haasan marked her father Kamal Haasan’s birthday on Saturday with an affectionate social media message, describing the veteran actor as a “glorious uncut diamond” and “the rarest of the rare”.
Sharing her wishes on Instagram, Shruti said she had spoken to her father earlier in the day and joked that she had not always been the best at following his advice. She also recalled how their conversation soon turned to cinema, with Kamal recommending a film he had recently watched and explaining what he loved about it.
Shruti praised her father’s enduring passion for filmmaking, saying that decades in cinema had not diminished his enthusiasm or curiosity. She described him as someone who continued to embrace life and his craft with the same vibrancy and sense of discovery.
“You are just the rarest of the rare Appa, the most glorious uncut diamond sparkling in the way only you can. Love you to the moon and back,” she wrote.
Birthday greetings also poured in for Kamal Haasan from across the film industry.
His production house, Raaj Kamal Films International, marked the occasion by releasing new stills from his upcoming film, titled Sandiyar. The production house had announced the title on its X account on Friday, ahead of the actor’s birthday.
The film features Kamal Haasan in an intense look, with a revolver in hand, in a poster that hints at an action-driven narrative.
Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music, while National Award-winning stunt choreographers Anbariv are handling the action sequences. Sunil KS is the cinematographer, with C S Balachander overseeing production design and Amritha Ram designing the costumes.
Kamal Haasan and R Mahendran are producing the film, with S Disney as co-producer.
