Pensioners must submit their annual Jeevan Pramaan or Digital Life Certificate by November 30, 2026, to avoid disruption in their monthly pension payments.
The biometric-enabled digital service allows pensioners of central and state governments, as well as other government organisations, to submit their life certificates online without visiting pension offices. Submission of the annual certificate is mandatory for continued pension disbursement.
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has made several online and doorstep facilities available to simplify the process. Pensioners can submit their certificates through face authentication on the UMANG app and use free doorstep services offered by India Post Payments Bank (IPPB).
Most public sector undertaking and private sector banks also provide free doorstep facilities for generating life certificates. Pensioners can alternatively visit their nearest EPFO office or Common Service Centre (CSC) for physical submission.
The submission window for pensioners aged 80 years and above opened on October 1, while those below 80 became eligible from November 1. Both categories must complete the process by November 30.
Pensioners who miss the deadline may face temporary suspension of their monthly payments from December until their life certificates are submitted and updated. However, late submission will not attract a monetary penalty. Pending pension payments will be released along with arrears in the next payment cycle after the certificate is updated.
Earlier in October, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh reiterated the government’s commitment to pensioners’ welfare and called for wider adoption of digital pension services. He noted that 756 of 897 long-pending cases, or 84.2 per cent, had been resolved during the 17th Pension Adalat.
