New Delhi, November 7, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
The paperwork has been completed for an IPL 2027 trade that will see all-rounder Hardik Pandya move from Mumbai Indians (MI) to Punjab Kings (PBKS), while left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh heads to the five-time champions. The deal is awaiting formal approval from the BCCI and the IPL governing council before its announcement.
“ Yes, the initial paperwork for this trade has been completed. Now it has to get formal approval of the BCCI and IPL governing council, and then it can be announced along with the final amount,” an IPL source told IANS on Saturday.
IANS had earlier reported on November 3 that Shreyas Iyer-led PBKS had moved ahead of Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders in the race to acquire Pandya before the November 17 retention deadline. Wicketkeeper-batter Vishnu Vinod, initially linked to the exchange, is not part of the deal, according to another source.
The trade would end Pandya’s second stint with MI, which began when the franchise acquired him from Gujarat Titans in an all-cash deal ahead of IPL 2024 and appointed him captain in place of Rohit Sharma. Under Pandya’s captaincy, MI won 15 and lost 24 of their 39 matches. The team finished at the bottom in IPL 2024, reached the playoffs in 2025 and ended ninth in 2026.
Arshdeep has been with PBKS since IPL 2019, and his performances for the franchise helped him earn a place in the Indian team. He is currently part of India’s ODI series in New Zealand and is also the country’s leading wicket-taker in T20Is. Both Pandya and Arshdeep were members of India’s T20 World Cup-winning teams in 2024 and 2026.
Pandya’s fitness remains a concern, as he has not played competitive cricket since IPL 2026 due to a series of injuries. A shin problem ruled him out of India A’s one-day series against Australia A in Puducherry in October and also kept him out of Baroda’s squad for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Meanwhile, PBKS had explored a possible trade involving Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis and Lucknow Super Giants pacer Mohsin Khan. However, the franchise has reportedly changed its plans, and Stoinis is likely to be retained for IPL 2027.
Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants are also understood to be in discussions over a major trade involving more than two players. An announcement is expected only after approval from the IPL governing council.
The BCCI has extended the player retention deadline to November 17, as the original date coincided with India’s fifth ODI against New Zealand in Mount Maunganui on November 15. The IPL 2027 mini-auction is scheduled to take place in Goa on December 16.
