Megastar Amitabh Bachchan recently revisited a college memory on the quiz reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati, recalling how female students at Delhi University’s Miranda House teased him during his first visit to the campus.
The anecdote came up during a special episode featuring actress Madhuri Dixit. Bachchan said that when he first entered Miranda House, students sitting on a hostel balcony began making playful remarks about the way he walked.
Recalling their comments, he said, “Jis din hum pehli dafa Miranda House mein ghuse to balcony pe baithi jitne hostel ki ladkiyan thi bole, ‘Aay hay, kya chaal hai’.”
He said the experience made him understand, in a personal way, what women might feel when they are subjected to unwanted teasing.
Reflecting on the incident, Bachchan said, “Aur tab hum ko pata chala ki ek mahila ke dil mein kya hota hai jab is tarah se uski chhed-chaad hoti hai.”
The veteran actor added that people may not fully understand the impact of such behaviour until they experience it themselves. He recalled being unsure how to react when the students made the remarks.
Curious about his response, Madhuri asked him what he had done at the time. Bachchan replied with his trademark humour: “Bhag gaye aur kya” (I ran away, what else).
His anecdote brought a light-hearted moment to the episode while highlighting the discomfort that unwanted attention and teasing can cause.
