Bengaluru, November 6, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

A cab driver arrested for allegedly murdering seven members of his wife’s family in Bengaluru has told police that years of mental harassment by his wife and her relatives drove him to commit the crime, according to police.

The accused, identified as Indushekar, allegedly claimed during interrogation that his wife had harassed him for nearly 20 years and that her family members always supported her during their frequent disputes. He reportedly described his wife as treating him like a “useless man”.

The seven victims, who were allegedly killed over a period of around 15 days, include Indushekar’s wife Suneeta, his brothers-in-law Shivakumar and Shankar, their wives Divya and Nalini, Shivakumar’s son Puneeth, and his mother-in-law Roopavathi.

According to the police investigation, Indushekar allegedly invited the family members to his rented house near Bhashyam Circle on the pretext of serving them a meal featuring mutton dishes. He allegedly mixed sleeping tablets into the food and attacked the victims with a grinding stone and other means after they became unconscious.

Police sources said he subsequently transported the bodies in his car and disposed of them at different locations.

The case surfaced after relatives became concerned about the family’s prolonged absence. They said they had received a message claiming that the family had gone on a three-day trip to the Hogenakkal area during the Dasara period. Their repeated attempts to contact the victims went unanswered. A visit to Indushekar’s house revealed that it was locked.

Investigators are also examining messages allegedly sent to relatives to create the impression that the family was travelling. The accused’s daughter had reportedly contacted other family members, inviting them home and saying she wanted to enjoy a good meal while her mother was away.

The accused allegedly gave contradictory statements during questioning, prompting police to search his residence and uncover clues linked to the killings. Puneeth’s body was recovered near Nandi Hills in Chikkaballapur district during a search operation. Efforts are underway to locate the remaining bodies.

The victims’ relatives have rejected Indushekar’s claims of harassment and questioned why he would target other family members if his grievance was only against his wife. They have also raised the possibility of a property dispute as a motive.

Police have seized the car allegedly used to transport the bodies. A special team is investigating the sequence of events, the alleged motive and the disposal of the remaining bodies.
