BJP National President Nitin Nabin on Wednesday claimed that voters in Uttar Pradesh would reject Opposition parties again in the 2027 Assembly elections, accusing their leaders of having what he described as a “Dimagi Naxal” mindset.
Addressing a gathering during the BJP’s ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ march in Gorakhpur, Nabin said, “The people have already taught a lesson to those with anarchic mindsets, these ‘Dimagi Naxals’, and they will teach them another lesson in 2027 and again in 2029.” He predicted a BJP-NDA victory and a complete wipeout of the Samajwadi Party in the 2027 elections.
Targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Nabin referred to them as two ‘yuvrajs’ (princes), claiming that their past actions remained fresh in the memories of people across Uttar Pradesh and the country.
He also claimed that the Opposition was nervous over the public response to the BJP’s padyatra. Comparing the turnout with an Opposition rally at Ramlila Maidan, Nabin alleged that the latter had failed to attract even 10 per cent of its claimed attendance.
Attacking Rahul Gandhi, the BJP president accused him of spreading misinformation and attempting to mislead people. He said the country was progressing under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and described Modi as both the ‘Pradhan Sevak’ and ‘Chowkidar’ of the people.
Nabin also criticised Opposition parties for questioning the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and blaming it for their electoral defeats. He said parties should strengthen their grassroots organisations and work with their cadres instead of questioning the Election Commission.
Accusing previous Congress governments of failing to fulfil their promises to eradicate poverty, Nabin alleged that their policies had pushed poor people further towards the margins. He said he had witnessed Opposition defeats during his visits to Uttar Pradesh in the 2012, 2017 and 2022 elections.
He further accused Opposition leaders of failing to learn from electoral setbacks and repeatedly blaming external factors. Referring to allegations about EVMs, he claimed that Rahul Gandhi had failed to accept the Election Commission’s challenge to demonstrate that the machines were faulty.
Questioning Opposition objections to electoral rolls, Nabin claimed that more than 2.5 crore deceased people’s names continued to appear on voter lists and asked whether the Opposition wanted to seek votes from “ghosts”.
