Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir reportedly described growing ties between Hindus and Jews as a threat to Muslims and Pakistan during a four-nation security meeting in Tehran on October 26, according to remarks attributed to Iran’s top security official Mohsen Rezaei.
The comments came to light after a video of Rezaei’s interview with Iranian state broadcaster IRIB circulated widely on social media. Rezaei recounted discussions involving Munir, Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin and Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, saying all had expressed strong concerns about Israel.
Rezaei said Khalid bin Salman had warned that Israel could target Turkey after Iran, and then Saudi Arabia. Kalin reportedly shared similar concerns, while Munir spoke about the perceived threat from Israel and what Rezaei described as an emerging bond between Hindus and Jews directed against Muslims and Pakistan.
Pakistani journalist Najam Sethi, commenting on the footage on his YouTube channel, said Munir had characterised the relationship as a major geopolitical threat to Muslims and Pakistan.
The reported remarks have drawn attention to Munir’s earlier statements invoking religious differences between Hindus and Muslims. At an event in Islamabad shortly before the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, he reiterated the Two-Nation Theory, arguing that Hindus and Muslims were distinct communities in religion, customs, traditions and outlook.
In his remarks at the time, Munir urged Pakistanis to pass the country’s founding narrative on to their children.
The latest account of his comments in Tehran is based on Rezaei’s interview and subsequent media reports. The information provided does not include an independent confirmation or a direct statement from Munir on the reported remarks.
