New Delhi, November 3, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
With air quality deteriorating across Delhi-NCR, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) will operate 20 additional Namo Bharat train trips on the Delhi-Meerut corridor from November 4 to encourage commuters to use public transport instead of private vehicles.
The additional services will run along the entire corridor, from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut.
The move comes as Delhi’s AQI reached 397 on Tuesday, while Ghaziabad and Meerut also remained in the ‘very poor’ category. The NCRTC said the additional trips aim to reduce private vehicle traffic and support efforts to control pollution.
The Delhi-Meerut corridor is connected with several transport networks, including the Delhi Metro, Indian Railways, interstate bus terminals and city bus services at key stations such as Sarai Kale Khan, Anand Vihar, New Ashok Nagar and Ghaziabad.
Parking facilities are also available at Namo Bharat stations, allowing commuters to leave their private vehicles and continue their journey by train. The Namo Bharat Connect app offers a live parking tracking feature through which passengers can check parking availability before booking tickets.
The NCRTC said the initiative would provide commuters with a convenient and reliable transport option while promoting sustainable public transport across the National Capital Region.
