BJP president Nitin Nabin on Monday attacked the Opposition during the party’s ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ campaign in Bihar’s Bhagalpur, alleging that its protests against the Election Commission were aimed at grabbing power.
Addressing a gathering after leading a padyatra, Nabin accused the Congress and its INDIA bloc allies of misleading people and spreading anarchy. He warned that voters could eventually deny them even their current position in the Opposition.
“Democracy is not in danger; your opposition seat is now in danger. In coming times, the public will not deem you worthy of even sitting on the opposition seat,” he said.
Targeting Rahul Gandhi, Nabin alleged that the Congress and its allies had tried to spread lies at the Ramlila Maidan rally in Delhi on Sunday. He said people had moved beyond what he described as an atmosphere of illusion and placed their trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Nabin also accused Opposition parties of questioning constitutional institutions, including the Election Commission, whenever election results went against them. Referring to the UPA’s 2014 defeat, he attributed it to corruption, scams and terror attacks, and said the Opposition had blamed EVMs instead of learning from its electoral loss.
The BJP’s ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ campaign has been launched in Bihar and West Bengal to counter the INDIA bloc’s narrative against the Modi government.
