Pune, October 31, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Siya Goyal, accused of murdering her fiancé Ketan Agarwal in alleged collusion with her lover Chetan Chaudhary, has filed applications seeking bail and discharge from the case as proceedings began at a Pune court on Saturday.

The hearing took place at the Vadgaon Maval Sessions Court, where senior advocate Ujjwal Nikam appeared for the prosecution for the first time. The court has scheduled the next hearing for November 17.

Speaking to reporters after the proceedings, Nikam said the prosecution had briefed the court about the case, the evidence collected by police and the arguments it intended to advance. He said the court had permitted the prosecution to present its arguments.

Nikam confirmed that Goyal’s counsel had filed two applications, one seeking bail and the other seeking her discharge from the case. The defence has argued that there is no substantial evidence against her. The court will hear the applications on November 17.

The third accused, Ritesh Hange, has not yet appointed a lawyer. The court directed him to arrange legal representation before the next hearing, failing which it would appoint a lawyer for him.

Nikam said the prosecution would explain at the next hearing how the alleged murder conspiracy was hatched and present the evidence collected by police regarding the respective roles of Goyal and Chaudhary.

However, the defence has alleged that the police have not provided technical evidence related to the case.

Goyal’s lawyer, Nitin Bhalerao, said applications seeking bail and discharge had been submitted on her behalf. He alleged that video footage and other technical material collected during the investigation had not been shared with the defence.

According to Bhalerao, an application has also been filed seeking access to these materials, and the issue will be taken up at the next hearing.

Senior advocate Vipul Dushim is expected to represent the defence on November 17.

Bhalerao claimed that the defence considers the evidence collected by police insufficient to secure a conviction and would contest the case during the trial.

All three accused — Goyal, Chaudhary and Hange — appeared before the court through video conferencing from Pune’s Yerawada Jail on Saturday.

According to police, Ketan Agarwal, 26, a director of a real estate company, was allegedly pushed into a gorge at Lohagad Fort near Pune on June 18 this year, resulting in his death.
