Varanasi, October 24, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Indian Air Force’s (IAF) spectacular air show, ‘Wings Over Ganga’, is underway at Namo Ghat in Varanasi, with Air Force officers encouraging young people to draw inspiration from the aerial displays and consider a career in the armed forces.

The two-day event, organised to mark the 94th anniversary of the Indian Air Force, will continue until October 25. It showcases the force’s operational capabilities, technical strength and flying skills through synchronised aerial stunts and high-speed manoeuvres.

Speaking about the event, Squadron Leader Gautam Tyagi, a member of the IAF’s Sarang helicopter display team, said it was a privilege to showcase the Air Force Day celebrations over Kashi.

He urged people to attend the show in large numbers and take inspiration from the team’s dedication and hard work. He expressed hope that the performances would motivate spectators to pursue new goals in their own lives.

Tyagi said the team was maintaining the same high standards in its performances, with no changes to its routine.

Squadron Leader Ankita Singh highlighted the uniqueness of the Sarang team, describing it as Asia’s only five-helicopter display team.

Flying the Dhruv Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), the team demonstrates the Indian Air Force’s professional capabilities and coordination while showcasing an indigenous aircraft platform.

Singh said the team received appreciation from people across different sections of society. She added that the displays were intended not only to demonstrate the force’s flying skills but also to raise awareness and inspire young people to consider joining the Indian Air Force.

Extensive security arrangements have been put in place for the event. Varanasi Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal said approximately 11,900 police personnel had been deployed to ensure the smooth conduct of the air show.

Personnel from the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Bomb Disposal Squad and Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) have also been deployed as part of the security arrangements.

Earlier, on October 14, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Namo Ghat to review preparations for the air show and the Prime Minister’s proposed visit. During the inspection, the Police Commissioner, District Magistrate and Army personnel briefed him on the arrangements with the help of project maps.

The event has brought the Indian Air Force’s aerial capabilities to the skies over Varanasi, while its officers are using the occasion to encourage the next generation to pursue their ambitions and explore opportunities in the force.
