Greater Noida, October 18, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Police have arrested three relatives of a family whose five members were found dead inside their home in Greater Noida, as investigators probe a possible link between the deaths, a prolonged property dispute and suspected suicide, officials said on Sunday.
Mahesh, his wife Lalita and their three children were found dead at their residence on Saturday, prompting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police have arrested Mahesh’s elder sister, brother-in-law and younger sister in connection with the case, officials said.
The incident initially raised suspicions of food poisoning after the family reportedly consumed tea and noodles the previous night. However, post-mortem examinations revealed signs of poisoning, prompting doctors to preserve viscera samples from all five deceased for further laboratory examination.
Officials said the exact cause of death would be established only after the laboratory reports are received.
The investigation took a new turn on Sunday after police examined a voice note allegedly recorded by Mahesh on his mobile phone before his death. In the recording, he reportedly held his two sisters and brother-in-law responsible for the family’s plight.
The three relatives were arrested, and a case was registered following a complaint by Lalita’s brother, who alleged that the family had been subjected to harassment.
Police are examining the recording and investigating the family’s long-running property dispute to establish the circumstances that led to the deaths.
Both the suspected suicide angle and the possibility of poisoning remain under investigation, officials said. The allegations against the arrested relatives are also part of the ongoing probe.
The incident took place in Nagla Shri Padam village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Rabupura police station in Greater Noida.
Further details are awaited as investigators examine the evidence collected and await the laboratory reports to determine the cause of death.
