Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has described his longstanding bond with Salman Khan as a special brotherhood, affectionately calling the two of them the “bad boys of the industry” while sharing memories of their friendship on Karan Johar’s celebrity chat show Koffee With Karan.
During the episode, host Karan Johar played video messages from people who have worked with Salman and share a close relationship with the superstar. In his message, Dutt addressed Salman as “Bhaij” and recalled how their association began when he would visit Salman’s father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan.
“I call him Bhaij. Hi, Bhaij. How are you? When I used to go and meet Salim Sahab, I used to see Salman working out. Since then we’ve had this amazing relationship. Bhaijaan and me, we are the bad boys of the industry,” Dutt said.
The Munna Bhai actor also recounted a frightening but humorous incident from the filming of Dus, when the two actors were suspended from a helicopter for a shot involving the water. Dutt said he became alarmed when he felt his safety rig loosening and shouted to Salman for help, grabbing his legs to prevent himself from falling.
Dutt’s message also carried an affectionate appeal for Salman to settle down and have children, joking that married people were already “stuck”. He said he wanted to see Salman’s children and expressed his enduring pride and love for his friend.
“I’ll always be proud of you. And I love you,” Dutt said.
Premiering in 2004, Koffee With Karan has become one of India’s best-known celebrity chat shows. Hosted by Johar, it is recognised for candid conversations, rapid-fire rounds and light-hearted discussions about stars’ personal lives, relationships and careers.
