The Punjab Government will organise an ‘NRI Milni’ in Amritsar on September 23 to provide overseas Punjabis a platform to directly raise their grievances and suggestions with senior civil and police officials.
Punjab Cabinet Minister for NRI Affairs Dr. Ravjot Singh said the initiative, being held under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, aims to facilitate timely resolution of issues through direct dialogue and coordination among concerned departments.
The NRI Milni will be held at 11 am on Wednesday at Hotel Le Meridien, near Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, Rajasansi, Amritsar. NRIs from Amritsar, Pathankot, Gurdaspur and Tarn Taran districts will participate and present their issues before the concerned officials.
Dr. Ravjot Singh said the Punjab Government had been organising NRI Milnis across the state to strengthen direct communication with the overseas Punjabi community and expedite the resolution of their grievances. Similar events have earlier been held in S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali), Ludhiana, Mansa and Amritsar.
He said the government considers the overseas Punjabi community an integral part of the larger Punjabi family and is committed to strengthening transparency, direct communication and accountable governance.
The minister said issues concerning property disputes, family and matrimonial matters, and administrative and legal matters would receive attention during the interaction.
Dr. Ravjot Singh appealed to overseas Punjabis from the four districts to participate in the NRI Milni and place their grievances and suggestions before the officials. He said direct interaction would help improve coordination among departments and facilitate quicker action on pending issues.
